Jane Solose is a native of Niagara Falls, Ontario in Canada. Her music career as a featured piano concerto soloist, solo recitalist, chamber musician, duo pianist and master teacher has taken her to Korea, Japan, Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Russia, Argentina, Canada, and around the U.S. Dr. Solose is listed on the distinguished international roster of Steinway Artists. Her three solo CDs were released by Capstone Records, Eroica Classical Recordings and Ravello Records. She is a past winner of the CBC Radio Music National Competition in Canada and received special commendation at the International Vienna Modern Masters Performers Recording Award Competition.
In 2016 she judged the Dinu Lipatti International Piano Competition in Bucharest, Romania, where she also presented master classes. Dr. Solose toured Eastern Europe in 2011, presenting solo recitals and master classes in Bulgaria and Hungary, and performing at the World Piano Conference in Serbia. In 2005 she presented solo recitals, lectures and master classes in South Korea, and performed Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto with the Gwangu Symphony. She has performed and presented at College Music Society conferences in Austria, Argentina, Japan and in the U.S., at American Liszt Festivals and Alan Walker’s Great Romantics Festival in Canada. Her articles have been published in the journals 20th Century Music, Clavier and American Music Teacher.
Duo Solose, a duo-piano collaboration with her sister, Kathleen have performed to enthusiastic ovations. In 2008 they were invited to perform in St. Petersburg, Russia at the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory and at Sheremetev Palace. In 2003 they toured Hungary, presenting concerts, master classes and lectures at universities and conservatories throughout the country. The sisters have premiered works at new music festivals in the U.S. and Canada, including the Now Music Festival in San Rafael, California and the Prairie New Music Festival in Regina, Canada. The sisters have been broadcast nationally on CBC Canada's "Encore", "Chamber Music at Noon", "Ambience" and for National Public Radio in the U.S. Their CD of duo piano works was released by Eroica Classical Recordings.
Dr. Solose is a graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Music, the University of Toronto and the University of Western Ontario in Canada. She received her Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) from the Eastman School of Music, where she was awarded their prestigious Performer's Certificate and was David Burge’s first teaching assistant. After serving 40 years as a music educator, Dr. Solose retired as Professor of Piano and Keyboard Coordinator of Chamber Music from the Conservatory of Music and Dance, The University of Missouri-Kansas City. She previously taught at Bowling Green State University and The University of North Dakota in the U.S., and Brock University, The University of Western Ontario, Western Ontario Conservatory of Music and Medicine Hat College in Canada.
Currently residing in Florida, Dr. Solose discovered the beauty, magic, and science of fluid dynamics related to acrylic pouring art and has produced a collection of unique and colorful abstract creations on canvas, vinyl records, tile and wood. She enjoys experimenting with various fluid art techniques, pouring mediums, and color combinations. Her "Cloudscape" exhibit was displayed at the 2025 First Saturday Ormond Art Walk at the Ormond Memorial Art Museum. Jane's pieces have also been shown in exhibits at the Starry Night Gallery in Daytona Beach, the Art League of Daytona, the Art Spotlight Gallery in Ormond Beach, and the Performing Arts Center in Ormond Beach. Many of Jane's creations are available at the Sea Dreams by Sara boutique in Ormond Beach and the TaDa Gallery in New Smyrna Beach.
